Wild Prunus virginiana var. melanocarpa

Wild Prunus virginiana var. melanocarpa (Prunus virginiana)

Ripe fruits along the Salmon River Idaho, US. It had been a dry summer this year as well, so there are dry gold leaves. These were very full and everywhere, just luscious.

That's a very pretty pic GT, plenty there for the birds. Have you thought any more about your Prunus?

Thank you Janey. I grew up there, and I was amazed that I had never noticed how much of this berry there was. We always made jam. It is commonly imported here, but seldom fruits like this. I'm looking for Prunus tomentosa, there are a few at the nursery I used to work at. The botanical garden has a huge beautiful one.

Heres a shot I shared back when....:-)

Thank you Aleyna. So much fruit. I always wondered why we made chokecherry jam so often when I was young.

Balcony, that is no joke. There's plenty with a bumper crop like this.
