This 2 ft standard azelea was bone dry and starting to droop so I cheekily asked if it was reduced as it was unlikely to survive. 3 days later, after a 5 hour soak in a bucket of water the buds were firm and the leaves perky.

Great rescue. I can't resist a plant in distress.

Well done. Think i'll post mine to you see if you can rescue it, forgot to water it before i went away for a few days in Oct. followed some advise, but it's not looking very good at the moment. Just a mass of brown twigs

Ithink it's a shame when supermarket staff treat living plants as though they were tjns of beans or something,
surely even the thickest of shop assistants know that plants in pots, in a dry shop need watering!!.
Better for us gardeners that spot an opportunity to get a plant cheaper though, lol, Derek.

I did ask why they didnt water them and they said that unless they had an assistant who was interested and prepared to mop any spills then that was that.

What a pathetic excuse, that is disgusting, the manager should tell them what they have to do, not leave it to themselves what they would like to do, that's what managers are for, Derek

I guess its down to health and safety, a slip hazard etc. but my advantage.
