I've wanted a Vanda for a few years but refuse to pay thirty or forty quid for one. So I had to snap this one up for £9!

The flowers are past their best Sticki, but had to be had that cheaply!

TBH, I've had my eye on it for a while and toughed it out!

What is it? Sort of orchid?

Nice one M, an absolute bargain!

I don't gamble Sticki, unless I'm very confident!
I just had to tough it out HB and hope that no one else spotted it at the back!
It is an orchid Katarina.
I'm chuffed with it PA. The fun is getting it to bloom again next year (easy to buy 'em in bloom)!

Oh sorry I forgot that poker is linked with gambling ~ seeing as I dont play cards or gamble! I was just thinking it has to do with 'toughing it out' doesnt it? keep a straight face and all that ~ did you hide the vanda at the back of the stall?

OK.....lucky lucky you!!! Mine won't have flowers for another year or so...still very young. How is it??? In a pot or in a basket???
I could be wrong but looks very much like mine...."Tokyo blue"

"did you hide the vanda at the back of the stall?"
I may have suggested to a lady who works there that it was taking up space that the Poinsetia could use!!!!
It was the colour that I wanted Katarina, although at that price I would have accepted any colour.
Alex - yours is growing well for you though? This is in a basket, although I'm considering putting it into a vase. Matches Tokyo Blue, but was sold as a noid.

It's great when a really wanted plant is a bargain! Well done Keith, look forward to seeing it next year, such a stunning colour!

Thanks Amy and Karen!

Im sure the poinsetia needed to be at the front for seasonal sales ~ sounds very reasonable to me! good plan!

Just made sense to me!!!

What a beauty, didn't you do well?

Thanks DD! I will have done well if I don't kill it!

I had mine in a vase at first but I was afraid of roasting the roots......the sun is very strong here, especially in the summer. It's growing better in the basket, picks up all the moisture from the air. Besides...I think it looks really cool with the roots hanging down. ;o)

What a wonderful purchase Meanie! It would be interesting to hear how you get on with it... They make really eye catching Bridal Bouquets, but are extremely expensive to buy as a cut flower. I've never used them myself - but I expect Poppylover has when she had her florist shop!

Thanks Petaltracey!
Dread to think what they cost as a cut flower............
