Sarcococca are compact, sometimes suckering evergreen shrubs with simple, leathery leaves and tiny, fragrant creamy-white flowers in winter or spring, followed by red, purple or black berries which may persist into the following winter
S. confusa is a bushy evergreen shrub to 2m, with glossy, deep green, wavy ovate leaves 3-5cm in length and, in winter, inconspicuous, very sweetly scented, creamy-white flowers, followed by glossy black berries

I also have one of these, Paul. It's in flower just now, and although it's in the front garden, we can actually smell it in the back garden which is roughly 15mtrs away :0
