Knowing I'd be snowed in today (my part of Wales was hit hardest by the weather) I went to do my shopping yesterday. Intended to do that on Wednesday but when got home from work I felt like an icicle (frozen).
So yesterday I went to the supermarkets - and guess what - no bread, no half baked rolls. The till operator said they'd been busier than before Christmas.
So what do to in that case? Buy yourself a bread mix and bake your own. This one is a ciabata mix.
I seriously keep thinking about buying a bread maker.

That looks delicious Kasy ... I could help you finish it! We shopped last night instead of this morning as there is lots of snow here too ... keep safe and warm.

MMM, Kasy, it looks delishi :)))
Ciabatta mix? That sounds very good. I usually buy ciabattas here, too. My Italian friends used to make their own bread, several loafs for days ahead. I was interested, if it is worth, as after few days bread is not so tasty. They however add some sorts of herbs (!) which makes that bread still soft and tasting good. Maybe you should ask somebody in Italian restaurant, they should know what sorts of herbs are those.
Thus you do not need to bake so often.

HB@I also love bread, when it is still a bit warm and has its typical smell :)

Thank you for your comments:) I am very fussy when it comes to bread and rolls. It must be fresh, lol. and there is nothing like the scent of something baking in the oven - bread or cake...
Hmm Katarina - I think I'll pass on herbs in my bread. I like it simple:)
and Italian restaurant here where I live may be bit hard to find, lol.

I like it simple too. But we always do experiments here :) Once I put olives in the dough and it was good :)))

Kasy, how did you make that title BREAD, which is above the bread?

Katarina - the word BREAD is on my bread container. I just took a picture of bread in front of the container.

I'm on my 3rd bread maker K, havent bought a loaf in years. My simple receipe is 150gms wholemeal flour, 250 strong white (400 gram loaf ) spoonful of mixed seed which I buy & chuck in a tupperware type container, sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, poppy. Splash of oil & small cup of warm water & teaspoon of dried yeast. I can make this up before the kettle has boiled it's that easy n simple ( like me) & you never run out of fresh bread. That ciabata looks superb!

Thank you Jane. I actually managed to buy a bread maker few weeks ago - for time being baking bread from ready mixes - but have to start making my own mixtures.
