This sausage tree at the San Diego Zoo had many sausage-like seed pods on it. Photo taken on very warm Jan. 22, 2013.

So that's a sausage tree! Very fat sausages,pity they are'nt edible. Does any animal eat them?

Yes, that's a sausage tree. There probably 50 trees at the San Diego Zoo. The pods are used medicinally.
I'm sure there's animals in tropical Africa that eat sausage-like pods.
