Tiger Lilies on balcony in Cuenca 1991

Lovely flowers, I would have more of them if it wasn't that they seem to attract the lily beetle.

I never had problems with that pest while I had them on my balconies. A year or two after this one was taken we moved to another flat with a much, much bigger space out of doors & even there I had no problems.

Not grown them in the UK but I have a number of seedlings on the allotment that germinated last year. So this will be their 2nd year.

I hope you don't get them at all! They wreck the plants if you don't catch them first!

I've heard that as well & I certainly will keep a look out for my seedlings on the allotment. Thanks.

I have some seedlings down on the allotment but I don't expect to see flowers on them till next year, their 3rd. I haven't grown any since returning to the UK nearly 12 years ago.

These I grew several years in Cuenca & on a balcony that easily reached 40C in summer! That was waaayyy back in 1990-1!

oh no, i wonder whats going on under the soil in my garden then ~ maybe they have eaten more than i realised :-(

so those that managed to flower last year ~ i have to hope have escaped?
