It's doing really well!

Thanks SL!
If it wasn't for your advice a couple of years ago I would still be trying to bloom this!
Took a minus seven frost in the cold snap before christmas.

I'm well chuffed with it this year Sticki!

Glad. It worked for you Keith.

Not surprised!

Wow that is doing well !
5 Feb, 2013
Thanks Amy! Best that it's ever done to be honest!
5 Feb, 2013
How lovely is that?
5 Feb, 2013
Rather lovely?!!

;*))

It looks terrific!

Thank you Delonix! I'm still gobsmacked by how much frost it took!
13 Mar, 2013
Some species are pretty darned hardy!
13 Mar, 2013
This is one of them.
13 Mar, 2013
Can it grow in snow?
14 Mar, 2013
No - it shed its foliage in a minus seven frost. I suspect that continued exposure to that temperature would have done for it!
14 Mar, 2013
So, it's hardy to cold, just not snow.
14 Mar, 2013
I wouldn't want to risk it on a permanent basis - it took -7°c for just the one night. If I'd known it was gonna be that cold it wouldn't have taken that!
14 Mar, 2013
-7°c is extremely cold! I don't know how your plants can tolerate such cold temps! That's about the coldest temp I've ever felt in my life, which was when I was a kid up at Lake Tahoe (up in the high Sierra Mountains).
15 Mar, 2013
I reckon -20°c is my lowest ever.................
15 Mar, 2013
I would never have guessed it got that cold there. I thought you lived only 50 or 60 miles from London? Are you at a high elevation? I think of London as having a relatively mild climate (similar to Seattle, Washington).
16 Mar, 2013
Those temps are very rare indeed! Last time was two (?) years ago. They come when a front moves in from the east - if we're unlucky it has come all the way from Siberia.
Most of the time it's fairly mild.
16 Mar, 2013
When you say, many times it's -7°c, I say: Yeah Right, MILD!!! LOL! :>)
This year I had the coldest morning temp in years of 36ºF (2.2ºC). Typically, I only get 1 or 2 morning lows in winter (a year) of 41ºF (5ºC). The coldest temp I ever recorded was 34.5ºF (1.4ºC) for one morning back in early Jan of 2007, which was during the coldest weather to hit San Diego (and southern California) in 60 years.
17 Mar, 2013
-7°c has been our coldest this winter. Mostly it has been fairly mild though.
17 Mar, 2013
-7°c would kill every plant in my garden in 2 seconds flat! lol!
19 Mar, 2013
You need to trust them to my care to toughen them up then!
19 Mar, 2013
That'll never happen.
19 Mar, 2013
Killjoy!!!!
19 Mar, 2013
Meanie:
"Killjoy!!!!"
Being killed is what's going to happen to my plants!!!
20 Mar, 2013
I would try my best to keep them alive!
20 Mar, 2013
You wouldn't have enough room indoors to accommodate my thousands of plants.
I have very few plants indoors, most are grown outdoors.
20 Mar, 2013
"You wouldn't have enough room indoors to accommodate my thousands of plants."
I could make some space!
24 Mar, 2013
Do you have a mansion?
25 Mar, 2013
"Do you have a mansion?"
I wish!
26 Mar, 2013
LOL! I wish I had a small mansion! :>)
