Eranthemum pulchellum - Blue Eranthemum

Eranthemum pulchellum - Blue Eranthemum (Eranthemum pulchellum - Blue Eranthemum)

My Blue Eranthemum is blooming. It started blooming at the end of January. It is a winter-bloomer. This plant has gotten so large over the last year. It ultimate height will be 8ft (2.5m) tall. Photo taken Feb. 5, 2013.

Thanks! This photo doesn't do the flowers justice. The whole plant is covered with hundreds of flowers, now.

How fantastic, 8 foot and covered in blue flowers must be amazing!

Yes, it's an amazing tropical flowering shrub!

Sooo very nice!

Thanks! It's in full bloom right now. It's much more spectacular this year because the plant has gotten so large.

It was spectacular enough last year!

The plant was very small last winter, though. It needs to go into the ground. I think when it reaches 6ft (2m) or so it'll be much more spectacular.

Show off!!!!!

I know...but be nice, though. When I send you the seeds from the seed pod from the Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee' which is still hanging on for dear life...I may send you some cuttings of this plant. I've read this plant very rarely sets seed pods. I know you've expressed interest in seeds from this plant in the past.

Cuttings from this plant have generated roots within a few days for me (in water, during summer). I have several plants, now.

That's the kind of showing off that I like!!

I was actually extremely surprised how quickly the cuttings generated roots. It could have been because the weather, at the time was so darned hot, also. l

I did a few Aeschynanthus cuttings in water and you could almost see the roots growing! I was surprised as it's a succulent.

Yes, Aeschynanthus and many genera in the Gesneriaceae family tend to root very quickly and easily.
