These trees are truly bueatiful Sticki.
I have not noticed any smell in the air and assume that it there is any it is very subtle . Maybe Delonix would know.

A Tabebuia is called different names in different countries . Here in Mexico they call them Primavera which in Mexican means Spring.They are very popular trees here. Together with Jacarandas.

I think anywhere they grow they would be popular! Its just stunning. Never seen one before

It's gorgeous! I love Tabebuia trees. We have many here in San Diego. They should be starting to bloom very soon.
The most popular one here in San Diego is Tabebuia impetiginosa (Pink Ipê). There's some large gorgeous trees in my neighborhood.

The pink ones are gorgeous as well.

There's another pink one that's not grown too commonly here. It's T. heterophylla. It tends to more evergreen and is spectacular in bloom with it's pink fowers. It's a difficult tree to photograph, though.

Delonix, I find the darker pink more appealing

They grow here!...Ruth Bancroft garden has one. I did too,then tenants threw a blanket over it..I never knew until weeks later. City gardening and tenants...

I grew one in Fremont. It grow very quickly. Most species of Tabebuia are really hardy.

The bay area ideals and climate are hard to describe because "we can grow it" seems impossible to some or also means- but not that huge. Its Jan- we are solidly into the low 60's...again, not anybody's idea of tropical...but the plants hang in there.
Andy knows all this..I'm just trying to point out to goy people why the bay area has so many Redwoods. People here unlike soucal just don't know the range we can grow. It feels cool? so they plant conifers. We do get very cold late December nights. Who would think of planting tropical's then?..
