Is that a ladybird hotel, Paul? I don't think your shrubs are too close! If they are hollies, then they are slow growing so I don't think you should worry!
7 Mar, 2013
Yes Rose the hotel for ladybirds is almost coming apart sadly - buy a new one soon, some of my garden is crammed too much - the Mahonia most likely with hit it - but daren't move it now

I didn't realise it was the Mahonia , Paul. Yes they do get large. Ours had to be chopped right back on all sides as it was huge. but its still doing ok. A lot of shrubs do better for a good hair cut! You could try cutting in to it to shorten the width , then perhaps you won't need to move it!

Snap........whose will flower first?
8 Mar, 2013

9 Mar, 2013
I doubt it Paul, forecast awful, and we have had unbelievable cold temps for this part of the country......

I like your Ladybird house Paul, I had one here but some thing kept pulling the hollow stems out. It may have been a bird or a grey squirrel! More likely to be the squirrel - we are having such a lot of trouble with them this year... :(
12 Mar, 2013
Thanks Tracey - yes our squirrel dug up all our bulbs and alliums at that too
12 Mar, 2013
Lots of interest there :o)))
