Sticki, mine took a little while to bloom. This is its second year and the first time it's bloomed for me, but there have been a lot of blooms.

Motinot, it was on my wish list for a while, and I have not been disappointed. I love the form of the flowers.

I love this plant! I've been wanting to buy one for a long time. I think it'll do very well in my shade structure in the front yard.
Do you have it growing in the full sun?
I have the goldfish plant, which this is related and I've had it for many years. It likes quite a bit of full sun, though.

Andy, it is in full sun but underneath the shadecloth of my shadehouse garden space. It's not shaded just protected by the shadecloth from the harsh UV rays of the sun. It does very well in its spot and seems to love the sun.
I also had a Goldfish Plant in a similar position but it didn't make it through one of our wet seasons. The Lipstick Plant however has not missed a beat come rain, shine or dry!

Bernieh:
Thanks for the information! I need to test this plant out next to my gold fish plant, where there's more sun.
I moved the gold fish plant under the Norfolk Island Pine one year for about 7 months and it didn't like it. It tolerates the sun, extreme heat, cold, and hail without any problems. It's one tough plant! (for such a tropical plant).

The bright red and dark green do make a fabulous combination.

Oh I have this on my kitchen window sill! My sister gave it to me last year but no flowers on mine.
