Pittosporum - for dottydaisy2

Pittosporum - for dottydaisy2 (Pittosporum tenuifolium (New Zealand Pittosporum))

Not a great photo - but includes a close up of the foliage. Last winter was mild and I had it wrapped - it was left this year. Not in full sun as label said it required but gets around 4 or 5 hours and possibly getting a bit of protection from the fence behind.
It has done better than the silver coloured one I grow in a container and kept in a cold greenhouse for winter - that has, I think died!!

Thanks TT and Paul. DD2 was asking how it has survived over the past 2 winters. I'm quite impressed actually - thought it might have been a waste of money!

I have a Pittosporum which looks similar to this.
I've never given it winter protection....
seems to have survived so far ...

TT - the hardiness of some Pittosporum are questionable up here!! It's on its own now, I've neither the patience nor the time to give it protection every winter.
It takes me days to wrap all the pots for winter and luckily for my pocket I can recycle the bubblewrap and fleece ;)
The silvery one I also mention above is very much like the one that I can see from your picture with the sparrows.
It is looking rather 'dead' in the neighbours greenhouse. When I can be sure it's not going to be frosty, I'll bring it out into the fresh air and see if it recovers.

My back garden pittosporum on my current blog [in the sparrows photos] seems to look half dead at times and then puts on new leaf growth ...

... the pittosporum I have similar to the one above is in my front garden... I can look at the names on the labels in daylight if required.

I'm sure DD2 would appreciate that TT - this one's called Gold Star - she asked how it was doing in a picture I posted back in 2011.
I would think that you live closer to her than I do so maybe you can help her too.

Lovely photo Scottish, so pleased to see it is doing well, a most attractive shrub, thanks for that.....
TT if you don't mind, that would be helpful, trying to find some more that will survive these harsh winters.

This is a lovely shrub. I have Pittisporum 'Abbotsbury Gold'. I planted it in the garden in autumn 2009 and it has survived without any trouble. I live about 3 miles north of Scottish so well north of you Tt and Dottydaisy.
