I can feel the scent already, although it is not in full bloom. Using a special feature on câmera to take the Picture. Can't bother her with flash though

This is na Epiphylum Oxypetalum, called Night Queen. It is a species of cactus and one of the most cultivated species in the genus "cereus" (wikipidia).

I see. The name is suitable. It is then like water lily Victoria Regia, which opens in night, too. I just wonder, where do those flowers come from.

Then we have a clue - they both come from the siesta culture, where life starts at 8 p.m. ;-)

Wonderful sequence of shots. I love getting to watch it open with you. What a treasure, this one! I should have a go again, once I find a source. As rare as it is to find here, white is even more rare. :-)

Thanks for your comment. I've seen a red one in a garden along the road. The next blooming I'll stop and ask for a shot and maybe a "sample" :). The red ones open during the day and last for many days. this one just for one night.

That is why I see the red in bloom more often. At the university is the only white I've seen here, and since I had a night lab in the greenhouse, I would see those flowers often enough. I need to go check if they still have it, the greenhouse was rebuilt about 5 years ago. The professor new she had a rare one, so I hope they still have it.
