Pardon my ignorance, Andrew, but what does the 'culata part translate into?

Mouldy - denticulate means 'notched into projections' (according to my dictionary). As scientific plant names are all in Latin, denticulata is the Latin form of denticulate

I was aware of dent meaning teeth, so it must follow, as you said, that it's many-toothed.

My favourite spring flower,Andrew..pretty colour too..My white ones are just opening up now,and a solitary deep burgundy one..unless I am lucky enough to have some seedlings from it,when they all open fully..I hope so ..
