The many Cape Chestnut trees in this parking lot in Balboa Park typically bloom in January or February every year (which is out of their normal bloom cycle of spring or summer). Photo taken Apr. 10, 2013.

Yes, sometimes the trees are so full of flowers you cannot see the leaves on the tree. There's 12 Cape Chestnut trees in this parking lot.
