That looks pretty Karen , my Sorbaria are planted in the garden and have been sending out several side shoots ,I'm beginning to wonder if a pot isn't the best idea for them if you don't want them to spread to much !

Love these Violas Karen, such happy little plants, looks like they're "showing off" Is that a Choysia growing behind?

Yes, Gralew, it is. Thanks everyone, must admit, these violas have the cheeriest faces I've ever seen....Mouldy, you're right! As for the Sorbaria, I made the fatal error of planting my last one in the border. It would have worked if only I'd put a root barrier in, like I would for a bamboo.

I should have done that Karen I've a feeling mine are going to travel far !
22 Apr, 2013
I am getting worried now, just how far do they travel?
22 Apr, 2013
Well, I only let mine go a couple of feet before I hauled it out, so I don't really know.

Oh right, it looks so lovely in the ground.....

Leprechaun faces. The violas, I mean. Lol.

I had about six growing round the perimeter of mine at the weekend Angela all several inches from the parent plant OH cut them off before the roots took to much of a hold , I'm feeling guilty in sending you one if it's going to be trouble :o(

Easy enough to cut out I suppose. I am a bit anxious about runners, ever since I grew a Rhus Typhinus, it was gorgeous but the runners....grrr! I took it out eventually, and grew a hoheria in its place. The hoheria was magnificent, but I bet the new owners lost it in the winter of 2010.

Amy please dont feel guilty I love it, and will just cut the runners off, as and when.
23 Apr, 2013
If it gets to much Angela it will have to go , you may be able to control it by cutting the runners off or digging them up and repotting them for sale for your garden open days ......

very pretty display, I have some violas like that to bring a bit of colour to the garden, they make all the difference. I've not heard of a Sorbaria before, it's lovely!
