pruned out all the dead wood and retied the good branches to get some growth over to the left , more new growth from below so in a year or two it should look good again

there is blossom on it now even with it's trim...the pruning will be a real stimulant... most people trim where they want to cut back....but it actuallity you should trim where you want growth...maybe it will be all the way up to the birdhouse next season!...birds will love that. how 'bout posting some pics of the border below the wall? this is just a tantalizing peek!lol.

Hi Steve - I'm interested to know what is behind that great wall. Hope it's not a prison. ha.ha.lol, Sadie

hi sadie, there is a bungalow the other side of the wall, which means we are not overlooked.originally there were greenhouses ,supplying the large georgian house that owned all the land to the south of the wall, and even the land that makes up our little lane of 4 houses.so it's fairly peaceful , just wish it would stop raining!!!

I just love the hydrangea on your brick wall, it really softens the wall and the bricks add so much warmth, and privacy to your garden.

thanks for the comments flcrazy, can't wait for it to 'fill in' a bit more , the 1st year we moved in it was fantastic but a lot died off , so i've pruned out a lot of dead wood and it's coming on fine.....steve

Lovely. Have you had any birds in the box Steve? We usually get bluetits but sadly, they gave us a miss this year
