I bought mine few months ago - so still staying small at this moment.
Amy - they need protection from strong, cold winds.... maybe that's why yours died?

Yes this is on a west wall to shelter it from north and east winds.

I think that might well be the answer I was trying to grow it over a garden arch out in the open ,I must try again !

Now that's gorgeous and not a bit like mine! Like yours, Amy the east wind has bitten mine, every year the flower buds turn brown and I'm just left with the strong new growth. I think I may have to move it too......

Thanks Janey, this one has been in a while now it's about 4m high and wide, I have to cut it back most years or it would take over.

So healthy, obviously right place, right plant, have not ried this one, a neighbour has a huge one....tried to pinch a bit once....lol
