There is a nodding variety which is very threatened and I've only seen a few of those. I've been paying special attention to them this spring because for most of last summer the neighbour's pigs were "free range" and they (intelligent creatures that they are) found numerous ways around the electric fencing and onto our property. They cleared a wide swathe down our hillside much to my displeasure. At least they have penned them this year..but the smell of pigs in a pen leaves a lot to be desired too...when the wind is in the wrong direction!

I bet! I smell Ford Motor Company :( Not as bad as it used to be though before they closed the foundry.

lol...industrial pigs...yeah. Used to live in a Pulp and Paper town...smelled like corn cooking! and not in a nice way. gahh...they've closed that down too.

my Mom came from a small town called 'Petrolia' near Sarnia Ontario...that was something else too

It really is a small world, Fh2. My husband did a two week stint teaching assignment at Petrolia when he was at Althouse, (yeah, we lived in London (Ontario) too,) I loved that part of the province...my hub got his degrees at U of Guelph. The growing season was so great down there...loved to garden even then.

I think my mother might have been born in Petrolia (such a small little place). Her dad worked in the oil refinery. We always used to visit her relatives there & in the Sarnia area. My dad was from Fort Erie. He had a choice what city to work in when they were first married...it was either London or Windsor & he chose Windsor. I've always lived here :)
