I'm planting this one in the soil straight away, and we'll see if it copes. It's only small, about 9" tall, so if I lose it, no real tragedy. Worth a try I think.

yup, can understand that, but as long as there is shelter, should be fine!

I saw this at my local Gc yesterday, £29 and not very big! Just waiting for Morrisons to get one in :o))

Some of the prices are ridiculous! Good plan if you don't have a Dobbies near you. The furthest south one I know of is at Shrewsbury.

Just a thought...Dobbies is owned by Tesco. So I wonder if Tesco might have some small ones on offer. Worth a look.

I bought 3 of these in Tesco the year before last for £2 each. They have all done well and to be honest, they are the cheapest Acers I have ever bought and seem to stand up to everything - the aren't as affected by the wind like some of the others.

That's good to hear Scottish, as that's what I was hoping for.

I bought one of these for £2 when I was on holiday in Shropshire last week, it's smaller than yours though Karen, but I'll be nuturing it and hopefully it'll grow:)

So far so good Janey. I planted three other Acers in the border..one of which was looking dead...so nothing ventured.....as they say! The others are all ok so far.
