Just look at your Choisya, beautiful, do you have 3 along there. Really complements the Continus and Red Robin? Super Annella.

Just what I was going to say Dawn! Annie, you make common shrubs look incredible by partnering and pruning them well. It's an inspiration to me...and to many I expect, because these are easy plants to get hold of and grow..and you really demonstrate how fabulous they can look!

I echo what you say Karen. My first love are the shrubs, to be honest, then perennials. Annella is obviously good with the pruning, which isnt always easy.

I just wish my Choisya's would get going - Annella told me in the past that her's were small once and them boom!

yes, mine aren't that quick Dawn. I've had frost damage the past three years on them, which doesn't help.

Thanks girls. The shrubs all needed to be very hardy because of the strong north winds, quick growing and evergreen for privacy. The Cotinus add a splash of colour in summer but leave no gaps in winter because of the dense planting. The shrubs are all repeated along the hedge with 4 Choisyas in total, they were slow to get going but there's no stopping them now. An added bonus is that they all flower at some point :o))

Its worked so well Annella, love it. I need to clear out some old shrubs between me and my neighbour, this autumn, I may copy your idea, if that's OK.
