Yes it is Cinders, her name is Lady Serena, I couldn't leave her behind. I only bought 3 plants from GWL, it was rather disappointing, but I wouldn't have seen her if I hadn't gone:-)

She is wonderful. I wish I could grow them but they don't like my soil, so I would have to put it in a tub, and anyway I have no room left !! Lucky you.

I can see why you could not leave her behind she is beautiful. I cannot grow Hydrangeas. Yes, you are lucky.

I thought hydrangeas grew anywhere .... I suppose if the soil is too well draining? I suppose I am lucky then:-))

What a wee beauty, Ba! They grow well for me too...as long as they get a bit of shade. I love them...slowly filling the garden with them! :))

Another big fan here and that one is a beauty! I bought another one at the weekend, can't resist them :o)))

I've got one which has stopped flowering ....that's my excuse, so it's coming out pretty soon. The problem is, I've tried googling Princess Serena and nothing comes up .... I do hope she's not a figment of my imagination ....I didn't even ask if she's hardy, just asssumed ... eeeek!!!!!:-)

I've tried Lady Serena too and nothing comes up. I'm sure she will be hardy though Ba :o)

I'd have done the same...do you get tender ones? Is that something I need to ask??
18 Jun, 2013
I cannot grow them BA because of the wildlife. It is a deer food. I have 2 but they are always stripped. One of them is climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea petiolaris). I am trying to grow it high enough that deer would not reach it. The low part will be stripped but it would be OK.
The one in your picture is so beautiful BA.

Absolutely gorgeous, Ba, added to faves!
I think it must be Hydrangea macrophylla 'Sheila' (Ladies series), which is fully hardy :))
18 Jun, 2013
Hi Sheila, it does look similar, but lady Serena flowers are white, perhaps my pic makes them look a little pink:-)

I'll cry if not Annella:-))

Karen, you can get tender ones too:-)

Deer in your garden, wow! Don't know whether to say you're lucky or not Klahanie. Would be a thrill to see them I think, but easy for me to say, I suppose they're very destructive. Is your garden very big?:-)
18 Jun, 2013
We have 8 acres of land, mainly old forest, only a little flat land around the house and we really do not want to fence it. Most of our neighbours with acreages are not fenced either so deer have a pretty good life here. Some neighbours just fence their vegetable gardens but I do not grow vegetables.

Hi BA, that is lovely, I went to GWL on the Friday, and as you say we enjoyed it but I do think the plants all very much the same on all the stalls, however, like you I did find a few, Phew!, lol, didnt want to come away empty handed :)

Hi Daylily, I don't think I will be going again unless there's is some improvement. It's a pity as it's local, but I found the exhibits disappointing and small, as though most hadn't really tried their best and I have never seen such a poor show from Hardy's. Are you putting a blog on? I'm getting round to doing one, takes so long though:-))
20 Jun, 2013
Klahanie ...I'm jealous:-))
20 Jun, 2013
You do not have to ...your garden looks beautiful.

What a fabulous Hydrangea Ba.....worth going just for this beauty, I think it's the prettiest one Ive seen....:0).

Thanks Klahanie:-) Janey, I couldn't resist it, such delicate colouring ....I've put it in a big pot for now until I find out more about it:-))

Hi BA, I may put a blog on I didnt take that many photos, but I will be able to get on our computer next week a bit more as my youngest is going on a school trip for 5 days, we only have one computer now as my other daughter has taken the laptop to Uni, so Im the one without one lol :/

Typical Daylily, mum last in line:-) I'm still working on my blog. Poppylover put one on and as usual she saw things I never saw. It's funny how we all notice different things so I look forward to seeing yours:-))

Hi BA, Well I didn't see this gorgeous hydrangea, or I would have been very tempted to buy one for myself. I'm looking forward to reading your blog on GWL, hope you get round to doing it soon. Im quite new to this show (only been twice) so theres still a wide choice of plants available that I really like. Just getting into mini hostas - I bought blue mouse ears - its gorgeous!
