Hydrangea anomala petiolaris

I thought this looked like my H. petiolaris and googled it. Very strange that it is coming up as syn. H. petiolaris. The flowers on mine are more cream coloured whereas yours looks like they are pure white. These climbing hydrangeas are great and unlike ivy they do not bore in to every crack and crevice. Lovely plant K.

I love it SG...and it's really beginning to grow now. I don't know if it's a new variety, or even if it's just French, but the flowers seem much more showy than the ones I remember seeing many years ago. Maybe that's because I was always seeing them from a distance, though...

It is pure white...and I've, recently, seen a pink one!

A pink one is certainly unusual. I think plants are like everything else. They are all one of. If you strike it lucky you get a great version if not it can be very disappointing. I have a Forsythia 'Lynwood' which is always covered in flowers in early Spring so I bought a second one but it was such a rubbish producer of flowers that I have sent it to recycling.

Problem solved Karen, H. anomala petiolaris is evergreen with lovely red autumn foliage. I signed up for emails from Unwins and it has come up as a special offer today.
