These are last year's photos ... lol. ... I deleted all my photos from GoY when Blodyn died, because they made me feel so sad when I saw them - you see, she was always with me when I took them.
But now I'm a bit better ... and if I took more photos this year, they would look exactly the same anyway, so I might as well put last year's back on, when they are flowering this year :o)
Yes cacti will react to the conditions they are given. To have them flower well, they need a cold winter's rest with very little water. I give them that every year, so they flower well.
They don't react to the outside weather, because I keep them in the conservatory. The damp frost we get here would kill them.

OH does not water his all winter but we keep them in the kitchen so they get some light. I suspect he has not had flowers on some of them because he is not giving them the cold rest that they need. They are all looking very healthy though. Blodyn is a big miss but I'm glad you have found a new friend who needs you as much as she did.

I do like these latest photos. Are your cactus flowers better this year than last. Do they react to the weather like the plants in the garden.
