Interesting to see it growing in the pot Cindarella. I have only seen this plant in Mexico growing everywhere like a weed :-)
Although I think this is probably cultivated, right? It is a attractive plant ...I have picture on Goy as well.

I didn't know where it came from Klahanie, I was sent four seeds to try. I thought it would make a good feature, its quite attractive. I will take a look at yours later.

I saw this growing everywhere in Nerja, southern Spain. It is a stunning plant and grows really big in the warmer climes, but it's lovely even at this size. I tried to grow one here, but not warm enough. We do have them at the walled garden though, and they do better in the microclimate there. lovely Cinders!

Thanks Karen, I didn't really know what to expect when I planted the seeds, but its certainly a talking point, and interesting to see what it does. May have to find a larger pot though. I am wondering if it will survive the winter. I doubt it.

Yes, only time will tell on that one....depends what the winter brings eh? The ones we have at the castle are starting to flower....it is a really weird and intriguing bud...deep coral pink colour....hope you get some!

Me too, looking forward to it.

Its a real 'statement' plant isn't it Annella

If you put this in the ground it will grow to 8 to 10 ft. tall, Cinders. Don't think it will survive a frosty winter tho. they are quite tropical and exotic looking...but keep any seeds under tight control and don't get the sap of the plant in a cut or abrasion. The seeds are very poisonous..This plant is also used to produce the nerve gas, ricin!

Thanks for all that information Lori, I knew it was poisonous, and I wondered about the nerve gas ricin. I won't be planting it in the ground, and will certainly be very careful with the seeds. Thanks again.

seems a shame to have to view it as a danger, doesn't it? Grows in waste spaces in California...! I love it..had two last year and they got quite tall before the frost took them.
