Penstemon x mexicalli' Carillo Purple' its first year

Did you get these free with GW Drc? The ones I got are just flowering but they are much smaller than I imagined, only 10inches tall. Or is that how big they are meant to be? Yours are lovely by the way.

Thanks and yes I did get them from GW, they have all reached 18"- 24". Are yours a bit sheltered? I find they are slow to take off if short on sun and water?

Ah, some are more sheltered than others and at the moment are getting watered as much as the rest of the garden (took me 2 hours the other morning with my trusty watering can!). Oh for an outside tap!! I was wondering if i cut off the spent flowers do they produce more Drc?

Not really Cosmosjane but once they are a good size the flowers seem to last longer as some stem flower after others.
