when I saw the thumbnail, it looked like a small field fire! light can really make a difference to the ambience (that's your actual French!)

I thought that to Fran , very nice Lincs may the good weather continue so that we can enjoy it for a little longer .. having said that our grass has turned a nasty brown it's def in need of rain !

saw on BBC news site yesterday that "a hosepipe ban is not being considered" so it's only a matter of time!

I'd like it to stay around for the school holidays but have to admit the garden is desperately in need of a good drink, Amy my poor lawn is burnt to a crisp in some places, partly the joys of owning two large dogs then going on holiday leaving daughter in charge, she doesn't wash it like I do, I have mulched the beds and borders with my homemade compost so thats helping the plants...

I was watching Alan Tichmarsh's "how to be a gardener" yesterday, the episode on lawns; very interesting, even if merely academic for me! Don't know if you've seen it, or can get hold of it, it might bave some hints for you.

Radio 4 News a few minutes ago: it's going to get hotter, they've issued a "class 3 warning" - just thought to Google it, and found the Met Office site: there's a "heat health watch"

the south of England is under "take action" and the rest of England and Wales is on "alert" - for some reason, Scotland and Northern Ireland aren't included
