I only have the bishop of landorf, is that right? it's the bright red one and it has done really well this year. It started to get greenfly around the flowerheads, but the wasps and hoverflies have taken all the little beasties.

Thats a lovely Dahlia Linda....I have 3 of those and some small cuttings....Nice dak foliage...I have so many...(a little bit of an addiction).lol

Is now the time to take cuttings then Motinot, I will have a go. Never thought about that, I usually dry the pots when winter comes then empty out the tubers, give them a once over for any disease and place them into a fresh tray of compost, just covering them up until the spring. I then repot and water.

Yes, thats fine Linda.....I take the cuttings each Spring when the first growth appear, about 3" long and insert into a pot of gritty compost, cover, keep warm and bright and then pot them on individually....:>)

thanks I'll have a go. Just taken the pink cuttings and saved the seeds from one of the Aquilegias and put them into a large pot. Also a friend gave me some dwarf wallflower seedlings and I've separated them into individual pots.

You have been busy Linda....The wallflower will be so lovely....I forgot to say sever the cutting as close to the tuber as possible...some say dont cut into the tuber, but i find, taking a sliver of tuber makes rooting quicker and easier and doesnt harm the tuber at all....:>)
