Katarina,
Tiger Lily has edible flower buds (bitter) and edible roots and shoots. buds should be soaked in warm water for about 30 minutes before adding to dishes. The tiger lily can be boiled, baked, roasted or stir-fried.
In China, these lilies were used in medicine to help women with breast cancer and menopausal symptoms and inflammation of the vagina.
Due to its strong anti-inflammatory and diuretic properties it is used in alternative medicine to treat
angina pectoris .
The roots of the tiger lily contain antibacterial, anti-parasitical, and diuretic properties. The tiger lily also contains laxative properties. Parts of the tiger lily that are used in herbal medicine are the leaves, stalks, flowers and roots. The bulb of the tiger lily is considered to be a vegetable.

Apparently the plant is toxic to cats. so people with cats probably should not grow them.

by the way the Tiger Lily stands for wealth and prosperity.

Much of this info came from internet.

Thank you, Klahanie, that is interesting. Did you eat it in some dish? I like the flower too much then to eat it :-)

I did try ones...too bitter for me. We do add daylilies , pansies and nasturtium to salads for an added interest.
