Rose Excelsa (Red Dorothy Perkins) climber. Rampant climbing rose, flowers summer to Autumn reaches 8ft, small double with crimson pink blooms. I chose just for its flowers because it is none fragrant and has the sharpest thorns.

Thanks Mouldy. Hellish thorns on this but worth it, I have just drastically pruned it as it flowers on last years growth.

So what are you using as a substitute at Fort Drc, 'til it flourishes in all it's vicious glory, once again?
May I suggest Bengali tigers? Lol.
