"Izzy Underwater"

"Izzy Underwater"

My little Great Grandaughter Izzy just 14th months old is having swimming lessons, she is so at home in the water she has progressed to Underwater where she is being taught to touch the side of the pool for safety, she loves every minute of her lessons;0)

Your Great Grandaughter? Congratulations for the early start. I am nealy 70, I have a little girl about the same age, she takes swimming lessons too, but I am only the Grandfather. I wish I had her parent's permission to show a similar picture here. BLESS BOTH.

What a brilliant pic Carole! Did you have your head under water when you took it? She's lovely and it's so important to learn to swim. I can't swim and me from a sea port!:-)

What an amazing pic PP. However did you manage it? Congratulations to Izzy's parents on taking her swimming as soon as possible. My own Granddaughter, Freya, also loves going to the swimming baths with mum and dad, and has gone since she was very tiny. I didn't learn to swim until I was 40! which is something I regret, as to this day I still have very little confidence in the water :(

I'm like you, Waddy - I CAN swim, but hate getting my face and ears wet. When I was about 5, my parents paid for me to have swimming lessons (Hotwells baths in Bristol - very cold, FAR too much chlorine) and the teacher, a Mr Read, just threw me in, out of my depth, and said "Of COURSE you can do it if you want to and have to." A version of the "full immersion" method of teaching, I suppose. I don't think my confidence, or my lungs, or my sinuses have ever really recovered. It took me another 10 years to learn. Far, far better to do it this way, Carole - she looks as though she's really enjoying it. Swim, Izzy, Swim!

Thanks Gattina, not a good experience for you, but glad you were able to overcome it and eventually learn to swim, I keep promising myself that I will take up swimming again [thats if I can fit in my Costume lol] and I m sure Izzy will be swimming very soon ;0))
