Is this flowering now?

Thanks friends...no, Vincent. I was trying to add this to my garden and wanted the picture only on my plant list but it came up on my photo page. It blooms in early June.

Very beautiful!

It's been struggling since we moved, D1. I've just put it in a more sheltered place and it's doing much better. I don't know what it is that I'm doing wrong when I try to put plants on my list...the pics which I want to come up on my "garden" list always come up on my "photo" page first. Really should take the time to puzzle it out...but I don't seem to have enough time to do everything I need to do.

I think trees and shrubs can take two or three years to get re-established when they're moved as large shrubs.

You are right, D1...but if you had seen the change in the rhodo just days after I moved it, you would have been amazed. I have noticed that the rosebush that I put in the place it was removed from is not doing very well..hmmm. maybe I should move the rosebush too!

Maybe the spot doesn't have good soil? I have areas in my front yard where nothing grows well at all.

that is probably the case, D1. I wonder if there was a spill of some kind? Our lot was a staging area for logging about 40 years ago. Because the soil is thin and sandy it tends to dry out very fast in hot weather...today it is pouring rain and thundering and lightening...we haven't had much humidity this summer at all..even the four days previous when we had 30 degrees C. it was a dry kind of heat..not at all what we usually have at this time of the year.

That could be the problem.
Glad to hear your weather is perfect! Our weather is starting to get really hot, humid here in inland San Diego. It's still not as hot as last year...which is fine with me. I hated it being 90ºF (32ºC) at 11:30 p.m. or at mid-night...which we had last August for almost the whole month in the inland areas. It's now a more confortable 72ºF (22ºC) at mid-night.

Oh that sounds quite reasonable, D1. for sure, heat of that type would have killed me...I just cannot stand the very hot humid weather. Last night it was only 6 degrees C! It's much too soon for frost here, but i had to bring my orchids indoors for overnight. This summer has been very cool. makes me wonder if we are in for an early, very cold, winter. a cooler summer is a mercy but a cold winter is just as difficult to live through as a hot summer can be. Oh well...can't do a thing about it...just have to be hopeful. :-)

WOW! 6ºC (43ºF) is extremely cold! I'd be freezing to death if we had that temperature at this time of year. Like you said, though...there's not a thing you can do about it.
The weather here is going to be pretty unusual. We're going to be getting much needed rain from tropical storm Ivo. Just to the east of us they may be getting a tremendous amount of rain. Potential lots of flash flooding. We'll have to see exactly what happens.
