A few seasons ago we had a good collection of daturas - or Brugmansias - Angel's Trumpets. Kept in very large pots we fed and fed them constantly and they produced hundreds of flowers. This year we have again managed to get several through the winter and I am waiting with baited breathe as they are just coming into flower!

What is the plant with the big leaves in front of the bench?

It is a Sparmannia africana Cottagekaren. Not hardy but well worth trying to get thru winter in a greenhouse, it really makes a bulky plant. White flowers too - and it is a 'sensitive' plant that folds its leaves when touched.

I must get my photos downloaded - this year 2014 we had 3 enormous daturas flowering - one had at least 200 flowers on it in one flush!!! It was by our gateway - and when we came in at night and put the outside light on - it really stopped us in our tracks - awesome to look at - and amazing scent too.

Wow! I just looked that up and it's incredible! Thank you, I do love it when I get introduced to a new plant...even when I can never grow it! :)
