That's sad Homebird :o( They are so expensive to replace.
I hope Matthew didn't get too hurt by the crown of thorns. It's got big spines, and must have frightened him as a little boy.

Many flower easily. It depends on the species. Why not try a few ? ... and anyway, they're fascinating even without flowers :o)

Love your cacti, have got what I was sold as an orchid cactus. Do you know how long they take to flower, it was a cutting I bought from the internet two years ago but has yet to produce flowers.

It should flower when it's a year or two old. Give it plenty of water and feed in summer, and keep it in a light warm place. They are native to tropical forests.
