Outdoors Amy. It's winter chances are not good!

Meanie:

I would think you should have lots of flowers with all the heat you've had there this year.

If you need more heat I'll send you some...I'm so sick (literally) of the stifling heat and humidity here!

Is this part of Sue's collection Meanie? Looks healthy! Nice to see them growing for someone..have seen lots of professional pics of different sorts that aren't hardy for our winter, such a shame.

I wondered about that Meanie I have a White Lightening I thought it had died after the winter but it has started growing at last , not much chance of it flowering this year !

Delonix - it's not been that warm, or overly sunny for that matter, over here. Just better than the last few summers. All my "special" plants are way behind, and the Salvias (with a few exceptions) are frankly rubbish this year!

Tet - this one is mine! Sue's had booger all on hers! Must post a piccie of her Brugmansia, and her Eucomis pole-evansi (which is in bloom for the first time). Her Nicotiana sylvestris humiliate mine too!

Amy - the prolonged cold spring did the Passiflora no favours I'm afraid!

That's strange! I thought you've been having hot weather there.

We've been getting a lot of air masses from tropical storms lately. It's been Miami, Florida weather here for the last couple of weeks. The nights have been extremely HOT! It's not going to end anytime soon. I hate it!

Just better than we've had for a few years. The other problem is that the spring was very cold meaning that a lot of things are very behind. It went from not warm to heatwave in the blink of an eye (or so it seemed) and a lot of things (like my Arisaema and Dracunculus) just gave up for the year.

Actually Delonix, here in Bristol (the west country) apart from the odd thunderstorm, in general we have had very little penetrating rain this last couple of months. Our garden is extremely dry and it is dry down to 4"-6" depending on amount of shade. Our plants have suffered as a result, leaves browning, and many flowering very fast and over quickly, if that makes sense to you.
Meanie, I'm really looking forward to seeing Sue's brug.!

Meanie:

Okay, so that's why your plants are running behind. A cold spring can definitely cause plants to bloom very late. So you wen from winter to summer very quickly, I'm guessing?

Tetrarch:

Welcome to my world! :>)

We don't receive any rain from about mid-to-late-April through November or December in most years. This past rainy season we only received 6 in (15cm) of rain. It's extremely dry with many fires ragging in the western states.

I have to water my plants once or even twice a day. Now, with the horrible heatwave the plants needs water at least twice a day.
