The Lilac-Cronwned Amazons parrots are hybridizing with the Red-Headed Mexican Amazon parrots here in San Diego, CA.(they are feral parrots). Their populations have exploded in the last 10 - 15 years (although they've been in San Diego for many decades) and are causing some neighborhoods very high noise pollution. Photo taken Labor Day, Sept. 2, 2013.

Yes, a huge flock of Red-headed Mexican Amazons fly over my house almost every day. Sometimes they stop in my very tall Norfolk Island Pine ( Araucaria heterophylla) to eat the seeds from the cones. I can here them loud and clear in the house.
