I removed the side branches this year because I like it better as a tree form. I almost killed it transplanting it last summer so it's good to see it doing better now. They are tough trees, I ran it over with my truck the first year I had it and transplanted it when it was 10 feet tall.

When I planted it it was only about a foot tall and it got covered in snow. I think I was driving around standing water in my driveway and ended up flattening it. I thought for sure it would die but that summer it shot up three shoots from the ground that were all 3 feet tall. That was only three years ago and it hasn't grown much taller since being transplanted last year. It's by far the fastest growing tree/shrub I have in my yard.
