Thanks for your comment, Jane...There are so many that the deer seem to gravitate to the falls and browse the lower branches...Trees were never pruned or kept knowledgeably so I'm trying to keep a clean house...picking up the falls and keeping the grass/weeds cut to rule out intermediaries. This tree had a lot of rust last year, but this year the apples were better.
LoL...Amy, we must be the Bobbsey Twins...mine didn't gel and it went off quickly because I was trying to cut back on sugar...lesson learned. My son has all the Yellow Transparents...he has cleaned them and taken them home to make cider.

i guess they go for the branches they can reach then?? the deer..handy if you can get the above and top pickings off....but it seems you have quite a lot of activities on the go....hope you do get the pruning done lorilyn...you sure will catch up... hows the weather going your way??

Weather here has been pretty good considering it's October and we had our first frost in the first week of September! It has been so mild that I'm beginning to be a little worried...;-) My dahlia finally has a blossom...only one, but it is gorgeous. The fawn that visits my garden (I can tell it's a fawn because it's hoof prints are everywhere and they're small) loves to browse the hollyhocks, crabapples and roses. The crabapple pruning is going to involve ladders because the tree was let go. Last year I cleaned up the crossing branches and waterspouts...and this year I must open the crown and take it back...that will probably effect next years harvest...but it must be done. I'm taking advantage of the good weather to dig up my callas and dry them for storage so I have time to work on the pond and do the digging, etc. in the cold part of November. Time to bring wood out of the bush too....lots to do!

Sometimes in October or November we will have a hoarfrost and things are magically transformed into fairytale sparkle. Conditions must be just right tho...quick cold snap (usually overnight) and high humidity or misty rain conditions combine to produce frost so heavy that it coats just about everything. Will endeavour to get a pic for you, Jane.
I'm starting to clean out a flower bed beside the house to make a carport and was moving a very heavy group of rocks to one side...you guessed it...I pinched another finger, this time on my right hand! This is not as bad as the first..the nail does not show purple just a little red spot. Hurts like blazes at the time...so I just work thro it and try to remember to keep my wits about me as to where the other rocks are. Things like that are usually the result of wandering attention. (getting ahead of myself, lol)

aww no!!! i tend to work through things like you :-))) you give yourself some tender loving care along the way tho.... it will all get done...then you will feel so good...and so you should :-))))

i must remember those weather condition you write of concerning frost...hoarfrost is magical... we had one day that was full of the most wondrous hoarfrost i had ever seen...i was really blessed in that a new friend i have...knew i these right weather conditions and she took me to a perfect place see the hoarfrost there... brought tears to my eyes... me and her were like children seeing the earth for the first time ever...we could not believe what was before our eyes...

so even tho winter approaches and so much to do...it does all so roll in its own beauty and we have our for-knowledge and how to prepare ourselves...

you look after that person of yours (yourself) and those things you wingle on those handys ...¯\(°_o)/¯

I love the little keyboard graphics...cute...couldn't find a backslash on my keyboard though...have two forward ones...but not backward one...hmmm.
Nature's wonders are amazing, aren't they? It doesn't have to be one of the seven wonders of the world, either.
I'm dreading the cold... better get out my "snuggies". ;-)
