Unknown cactus

Not exactly sure what kind of cactus this is but it had a cool looking flower earlier this summer. The tag next to it is for a different plant, I really don't know much about cacti/succulents.

Thank you, I have it in a hyper-tufa trough with a few other cacti and succulents. I just got into growing these over the past year or two and have really enjoyed them.

very beautiful...i just have one cactus...just started this year my self (not in growing) but buying them.... its nice you enjoy them :)

Do you have any idea what type of cactus this is? The pictures I looked at made me think Gymnocalycium because the flowers and buds were a close match but really hard to say. It's hard to identify cacti, they change names way too often and there are so many different ones! I wish the garden centers would tag their plants!

i found a picture looks like yours and it says Gymnocalycium acorrugatum!!!! but know expert sorry....theres a few members on here that will know....

That is the problem with trying to ID a cactus, I have seen a few pictures that look like close matches but the one you mentioned looks closer than anything else I have seen. There are sites with pictures, the problem is there are so many to look at and a lot of them look very similar.

so true!!! i find that with plants...but they are easier...its just me!!!in this case....:-))))....hope you do find eventually it must be frustrating not knowing!!!!
