This amazing dahlia has been in the ground since last year. I couldn't believe it had survived through the worst last winter could throw at it, it was quite a surprise to see it again:-))

It is usually wetness what ruins them Bornagain. They rot in the ground. Before we moved to this wet climate I never took dahlias out of ground and winters there were much harsher. You must have a good drainage in that spot. We have mostly clay so I must take mine out for winter. Big job.

My mum never lifts hers Ba and they are huge now but she has very sandy, Bedfordshire soil. I would leave it in as it looks very happy :o)

Thanks all, my soil isn't sandy or partcularly well drained, but it is sort of halfway down a short slope so that may explain it. Unfortunately it didn't bloom until the end of September. I will leave it in again (lazy):-))
