Almost looks like a crumpled piece of paper, but that's what I like about it - it's different.

Yes, it has the crumpled paper look. I think this flower was on it's way out (as it was evening). The flowers only last one day.

Yes, this one has some beautiful colors which isn't so typical for tropical Hibiscus.

both of my hibiscus (syriacus) survived last winter and struggled thro a very cool summer. By September they had set buds but we had a very early, very hard frost and they were nipped in the bud ..so to speak. I was so disappointed but have taken extra trouble to cover them for winter so I hope we get a good mantle of snow to protect them thro the worst months. Will cloche them early in hopes of blossom in July/August.

I wish you the best of luck for next year's flowers! H. syriacus is suppose to be a very hardy plant. I'm surprised the flowers are so tender.

Most people have several in their gardens. In my immediate block there's several hundreds. I really like the large-flowered pink, yellow and red varieties.
