Not only has it bloomed but in a couple of days all that will be left are my memories of it & these photos I took!
Nevertheless I know they don't last much more than about a fortnight to 3 weeks at most.
Good to know you saved your bulb, Holly! :-)) Now that it's beginning to grow keep it moist but don't let it sit in a saucer of water for more than a few hours or the roots will start to rot & eventually the bulb itself. These bulbs can resist dryness much, much better than sitting in water all day long. They have thick, fleshy roots which give them the ability to resist drought & these rot easily.
The great majority of my 50 pots haven't had a single drop of water since the end of August! Some have lost all their leaves & have gone dormant while others don't seem to miss the water that much!
If I notice any that are throwing up a bud then they will get some water but not until then. As soon as any pot is watered it will break dormancy & throw up a bud. I can there fore control them so as to get them to flower when I want rather than when they want!

Thanks Balcony, you must be an expert with all yours, mine had no water from August either and now have started to give it a bit, amazing it started to grow with no water at all...

Yes, they will do that! That's a sign that you should start to water them. Your bulb should also be in warm place now & it will grow very fast indeed! It will probably be in flower by the end of the year as they only need about 6 weeks from the bud emerging from the neck of the bulb to the flowers opening!

Did have it in kitchen, but now it's growing I've put it in the living room....

That's good, Holly, it will appreciate a little more warmth. Don't forget to stake it as the flowers get very heavy & can pull the plant over - it's happened to me a couple of times! Even this one, although staked, still managed to fall over as I accidentally brushed passed it. Fortunately it didn't fall on the floor though. I stood it back up & moved it further in on the table so I couldn't do the same again.
Have you posted any photos yet? I'd love to see some! :-))
