This Aloe grows wild here in many parts of California. This one is growing in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA. on Dec. 17, 2013.

I've never grown Aloe from seeds before. We always grow them from cuttings. My across-the-street neighbors have the whole side their house with this Aloe which have been blooming for about two months. I'll have to get a photo before they stop blooming.
