There must be enough moisture for these plants in the ditches , mustn't there ?
We have two "mock" castor-oil plants and apparently they belong to the ivy family .

Katarina, yes...castor seed contains ricin, a toxic protein .
Although, castor oil is valuable and used in medicine.

Yes, very invasive D1.

They can pop up in the middle of asphalt or concrete.
Nicotiana glauca grows the same way here in California.
