Wow! We had such winter some years ago and even more Russians stopped gas to us because Timoshenko didn pay them, so i slept several days with just blanket, tea and candles warming me - stay safe.

The worst part is going to be when all the snow melts, it's going to be a huge mess! Luckily I didn't lose power but I have a fireplace and kerosene heater if it happens. It makes you appreciate Spring that much more when it arrives :)

I think the worst is over or soon will be over in the US. Oh, these are fairy tales, if you have good canals and drainage in villages and towns. It was said here last year, but no floods happened. There were some small lakes for a while on "hilly" fields, but nothing serious to worry about. On the other hand, this is not a problem, if you have more trees. Melting in forests is gradual.

The only thing I am worried about is water getting into my basement, if there is a lot of snow melting or a whole lot of rain at once it gets into my basement and is a real pain to keep on top of. It was pretty bad when the snow melted last year and it was only half of what we just got.
