This Star fruit tree was loaded with fruit. I've never seen it with so many. Photo taken at the San Diego Zoo on Jan. 6, 2014.

I've seen them growing in Hayward, Santa Clara and San Jose. They do need a protected spot in the Bay Area, though.

Your kidding me!..Where they with fruit?. I've never heard that with Starfruit. I like the crunchy apple flavor with a tropical touch.

My dad had one in San Jose which flowered; however, did not fruit. I've never seen one with fruit up there...however, you never know everyone who's growing them.
I saw several growing next to an inn close to the University of Santa Clara. It's been several years ago, though.
