That's beautiful Alexandra, I've got one in the green house that I won last year at one of our meetings but there's no sign of flowers coming, what have I done wrong never had one of these before....

Thank you Stripes. What this Orchid needs to bloom is cool nights and warm sunny days. I learned the hard way. I leave mine out unil the first sign of the flower spike....then I bring it inside and enjoy. I don't think you can leave yours out where you live but you can keep it cool. I hope this helps.

Alexandramou:

It looks terrific!

My Phaelanopsis is starting to spike with the very hot weather we've had here in the last 7 weeks. I bring my orchids indoor when they bloom, also.

Hi Delonix,

I'm glad you're having very hot weather. Most parts of the US are covered in snow....lucky man. :o)

It's been a nice winter here also....all my plants still look great. Bulbs starting to show...smells like spring is in the air. (lol...that's called positive thnking)

Four of my Phaelanopsis have flower spikes.....one of them is already in bloom. My Vanilla orchid finally looks like it's taking off....I still haven't figured out exactly what it likes!!!

Beautiful, Alexandra. Looking forward to see some more of your orchids. Lots of orchids in our rented place here in Mexico. I have no idea what they are, though. These are outside in the trees and in the pots.

Alexandramou:

It's not so lucky to have 78 - 92ºF (25 - 33ºC) for 7 weeks in the winter...a couple of week is normal; however, this very long period of time of hot weather without any rain is very serious for our severe drought! The Governor of California had declared California a drought State of Emergency!

We did receive 0.01 (.25mm) of shower last night (it barely got the sidewalk wet). We thought there would be no rain at all in January! (which is suppose to be our rainiest month in San Diego).
