Bright Red Cardinals

They’re a perfect combination of familiarity, conspicuousness, and style: a shade of red you can’t take your eyes off. Even the brown females sport a sharp crest and warm red accents. Cardinals don’t migrate and they don’t molt into a dull plumage, so they’re still breathtaking in winter’s snowy backyards. In summer, their sweet whistles are one of the first sounds of the morning.

Thank you Sandra, We are right in the middle of a Nor'easter which added another 15 inches on top of what we already have. The storm will continue all day and all night, but I don't think you'll have to worry about this one, it's headed north - Canada watch out!

It's been such a bad winter for you so far,Paul, and I saw the wind direction had changed from the west..we are having a very brief respite today, but oh boy,it's coming back with a vengeance tomorrow..!.So much more water here now,and still rising..but the Army and other volunteers are trying to help .. Farmers are getting together,to bring fodder for all the Animals..One even drove his tractor from Yorkshire to the Somerset levels.loaded with silage..they are now requesting the Government to find an empty Aircraft hanger,to be able to store it..
There will be no fresh grass to be had for grazing, for months to come,if this year at all..so it's going to be a huge problem..and some animals are being transported to anyone who can look after them now..
It really is a complete disaster area, from the Midlands,to the south..and some parts of Wales, and the west coast, which took the full brunt of the Hurricane type gales on Wednesday..
The Dutch have sent specialist equipment over,to help pump water away..where to,I don't know, but at least they are experts !....

Wow, Seems like we are all in trouble. I'm sorry to hear of your farm animals with no grass. I'm glad others are helping out. The snows are continuing in full force over here. Another storm is schedule to hit us on Tuesday. It is developing in the Gulf of Mexico and will follow the same path as all the others. I just hope the temps get above freezing to help melt down some of it. There's got to be an end to this!

I wish the snow would of come at least it melts slowly in stead of most of England being under water , talk about being an island it an island around all the homes too.
The experts say it will get worse for years to come . I ve been told no ldt up here until the 22nd and there s no promise with that.

Wow, I'm so sorry it's that bad Thrupennybi. I have a mountain of snow in front of my house that's higher then the roof. If that all melted at once, I'd be on an island too. Our storms here are continuous. I hope thing improve quickly.

I suprised you have nt got our news over there here are some to view so you can see for your self. I hope you can get these from this link. Yes we had the same trouble the other year fearing the snow would melt quickly and cause floods especially of the hills sides, to think you could end up then like these recent photos of flooded England.
