Yes, I suppose it does, M. But in winter the colour is atmospheric from light and shadow...purple shade, mauve pink reflected sunset or dawn...deep greens grayed by snow...whites so pure that your eyes have an after-image just glancing at it for seconds. the other aspect I especially like is the illusion of cleanliness...everything looks pristine, frosted with crystal light.... I say it's illusory because if you melt snow it is full of dust and debris, pollen and seeds are carried on it and in the spring when the snow cover melts there is a peculiar gray mat forming mould that comes from the snow..there are even snow fleas! There are more shades and tints of white than there are of reds! amazing aye?

It is not so much the snow i had in mind, no white stuff this year yet, but the continual rain and wind we are having.
More like fifty shades of grey! I would love to see proper snow again, waking up in the morning and before you have opened the curtains you know that the light has changed and snow is out there, time to reset your senses.
Snowfleas??

Thankyou Marybells!
Nice to hear from you again, Gardengnome! I've been here three years!, can you believe it? Hoping to plant a large veggie garden this year...If our snow ever goes away.

Don't these vibrant colours make you feel that winter is just monochrome
